Job Description

An innovative and well-established organisation responsible for the manufacturing of market leading Optronic solutions is seeking an experienced Senior Electronic Design Engineer to join their team. In a role where you will be responsible for the delivery of the electronic aspects of next generation products and lead the electronic solutions while working within an integrated project team. 

As the Senior Electronic Design Engineer, you will be:

  • Specifying hardware, software, and firmware requirements
  • Designated Technical Authority for multi discipline tasks and projects
  • Producing calculations, analyses, drawings, models, design documentation and technical reports, in accordance with project requirements
  • Preparation and presentation of technical design reviews
  • Verifying hardware, software, and firmware that satisfy the system requirements
  • Liaising with third party providers
  • Representing the company externally on at least one or more topics or business areas
  • Providing support to production to enable on time delivery of production orders
  • Developing engineering links outside the organisation and maintain awareness of appropriate technologies
  • Identifying new electronic technologies to support future business requirements and introduce into the business

To be considered for the Senior Electronic Design Engineer role, you must have:

  • Hold a Bachelor’s degree in electronics or related discipline
  • Minimum of 5 years electronic design experience (less experience may be considered for the ideal candidate)
  • Proficiency in the design (ideally using Altium) of innovative, high-reliability, power-efficient electronic circuits for use in demanding environments
  • Experience of signal integrity issues and best practices for high-speed digital designs
  • Knowledge of EMC/EMI and mitigation through design
  • Experience in RTL coding in VHDL and Verilog using vendor design suites (Xilinx Vivado, Xilinx ISE, and Microsemi Libero)
  • Experience with C++ and/or C for various micro controllers
  • Experience with tools such as Matlab/Simulink, FPGA Design Suite, Software Development Environments, PSpice, configuration control tools
  • Experience of delivering compliant solutions against a customer requirement
  • Proficient written (reports, proposals, white papers) and verbal skills (technical presentations)
  • Experience of developing solutions for imaging systems
  • Experience of integration of IR focal plane arrays, image processing, & electronics
  • Good understanding of other engineering disciplines (systems engineering, test, mechanics, FEA, thermal, safety)
  • Experience with Laboratory test equipment: Spectrum Analyser, Signal Analyser, Signal Generator, Oscilloscope, DVM

This is a fantastic full time, permanent opportunity, working 37.5 hours per week from Monday to Friday. Offering a salary of up to £52,000 per annum depending on previous skills and experience, plus company benefits including, generous holiday entitlement and pension benefits. The role is offered on a hybrid working basis with a mixture remote working and site-based working from their location near St. Asaph, Denbighshire.
